WARNING
|
This
pump and motor unit should be installed by a qualified, licensed or certified
electrician or serviceman in accordance with all applicable state and local
codes and ordinances, and in accordance with the National Electrical Code.
Improper installation may create a mechanical or electrical hazard which
could cause damage to property and which could result in serious injury
or death.
In order to avoid serious injury or death, always disconnect power to the
motor, at the circuit breaker before servicing the pump.
|
INSTALLATION
Proper installation
of your WAVE Pump will help it to provide you with years of trouble free
service.
|
| |
| ..1. |
Position
the pump as near to the source and as low as is practical. Note: Exhibit
A and B on Best Ways to Install the Wave Pump. Be careful to install a check
valve when necessary. This will help avoid cavitations and maximize your
performance. |
| ..2. |
Protect
the motor from excessive heat and moisture. It is best to provide shade
from direct sun, and insure that it has proper ventilation. Excessive heat
will shorten the motor life and void the warranty. |
| ..3. |
Protect the motor against dirt, water and all foreign matter.
If the motor has been flooded, do not operate it until it has been checked
by an authorized motor technician, and has been found to be safe to operate.
If the motor is damaged by dirt, moisture, flood or corrosion it voids the
warranty. |
| ..4. |
Mount
the motor to a flat, stable base where it won't get submerged. |
| ..5. |
The
pump ports are 2" NPT female on both the suction and discharge ports. The
fittings used to connect to the housing should be plastic. (We have provided
you with unions, for better connection and easy installation.) All plumbing
lines should be self supported and properly aligned. This will prevent undue
stress to the housing. We recommend sealing the pipe joints with the unions
included, DO NOT use Teflon tape. |
|
ELECTRICAL
|
| ..1. |
Make
sure the power is disconnected at the breaker before wiring the motor.
|
| ..2. |
Make
sure that the motor is wired so that it matches the supply voltage (eg.
115 or 230 volt). If they do not match it will damage your motor and void
the warranty. |
| ..3. |
Use a
wire of adequate gauge to prevent electrical line losses. The use of heavier
gauge wire will allow the motor to run cooler and more efficiently, by eliminating
excessive voltage drop. |
| ..4. |
Make
sure all connections are clean and tight. Properly ground the motor. (There
is normally a green ground terminal located on the inside of the motor connection
box.). Make sure the ground wire is properly connected to an electrical
service ground. |
| ..5. |
The supply line and pump outlet should be permanently
connected to an adequately sized circuit. It is best to have a dedicated
circuit that won't suffer voltage drop from other loads. The wiring, fusing
and grounding must comply with the National Electrical code and local codes. |
|
CAUTION
|
| ..1. |
The
polished and lapped faces of the seal could be damaged if not handled with
care. |
| ..2. |
DO
NOT run the pump dry. |

Ways to Install the Wave Pump
|
|
INSTALLATION ABOVE
WATER LEVEL (GROUND LEVEL)
To
install the WAVE Pump above water level, use a Check Valve between the
Settlement Tank & Leaf
Trap. The Check Valve must be at least 12" below the water level. The
Wave Pump pumps water
through the Biological Filter to the Waterfall Filter then back to the
pond.
|
|
|
| |
|
INSTALLATION
BELOW WATER LEVEL
To
install the WAVE Pump below the water level, you need a pump housing to
protect the WAVE
Pump, and the Leaf Trap from being flooded by rainwater. With the pump
housing in place, a Check
Valve is not necessary. Make sure you have a drain in the pump housing
when it rains. The WAVE
Pump pumps water through the Biological Filter to the Waterfall Filter,
then back to the pond.
